How long does my ABN need to be registered?
Two years is the threshold most banks look for. Specialist lenders will fund newer ABNs — commonly from around 12 months, and in some cases from day one where your industry experience and the deal support it. Expect around 9% to 12% for a newer ABN versus from about 6.1% for an established one.
GST registration widens your options too. It signals a genuine trading business, and some low doc products specifically require it for a minimum period. If you are not registered there are still lenders available, though the pool is smaller.
