Overdrive Funding helps Australian electricians access competitive vehicle finance. We compare 80+ banks and specialist lenders, negotiate the deal and manage everything from start to finish — new or used, from dealers, private sellers or auctions anywhere in Australia.
Electrical work is a van trade more than a ute trade. Cable, conduit, switchboards and test gear need to be secure, dry and organised, which is why most sparkies end up in a Transit, Transporter or Caddy with a proper racking system rather than an open tray.
What electricians finance
- Vans — Transit Custom, Transporter, Caddy, Sprinter, Staria Load, Deliver 9
- Utes with canopies for solar, commercial and site work
- Internal racking, shelving, drawer systems and cable reels
- EWP and elevated work platform vehicles for commercial contracts
- Second vans for apprentices and employees
- New, used, ex-fleet, dealer, private-sale and auction purchases
We only finance vehicles located in Australia. See our business vehicle finance page for the full range, rates and how approvals work.
Racking is worth financing with the van
A proper electrical racking fit-out runs $5,000 to $12,000, and it is the difference between a van that works and a van full of loose stock. It can generally be financed with the vehicle where it is fitted at purchase and on the same invoice — preserving your cash for cable and switchgear, which you carry before you invoice.
Solar and commercial work changes the vehicle
Sparkies moving into solar or commercial contracts often outgrow the van quickly — you need a ute with a canopy for panels and rails, or an EWP for height work. Those are separate facilities and larger commitments, so structure them around the contract that justifies them rather than buying ahead of the work.
